On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, Atlassian announced via email to its Cloud customers that there are some pricing changes that will be effective on October 18, 2022.  Atlassian said the pricing update reflects its continued investment in building powerful Cloud products that better meet customer needs.  This price increase is relatively modest in nature for list pricing but slightly larger increases are expected for Advantage pricing customers.  This increase is impactful to many of Atlassian’s common Cloud products.  Any customer that is expected to see a price increase will see that reflected on their next billing cycle.  Thus, monthly customers will see it in October 2022.  Customers paying annually will see it at their upcoming renewal date/time.  There are some benefits that can be gained by taking advantage of the current/lower pricing model in place before the price increase.  Here are some of the details about the pricing changes.

What’s Changing

The list price for the following products (Standard, Premium, Enterprise) increases by approx. 5%:

  • Jira Software Cloud Standard
  • Jira Software Cloud Premium
  • Jira Software Cloud Enterprise
  • Confluence Cloud Standard
  • Confluence Cloud Premium
  • Confluence Cloud Enterprise
  • Jira Service Management Cloud Standard
  • Jira Service Management Cloud Premium
  • Jira Service Management Cloud Enterprise

For Advantage pricing customers, pricing is changing in varying ways based upon the products, and increases can be seen from 5% to 57% for products like Jira Software Cloud and Jira Service Management Cloud.

According to Atlassian, the price increase is related to the continuous development and introduction of features into the cloud products over the last 12 months, many of which were outlined in part 1 and part 2 of our Atlassian Team ‘22 event roundup.  As noted in those blogs, many of the features were added to existing products adding more value around performance, security, integrations, search capabilities, reporting and more.

Cloud Loyalty Discounts

Customers who have a new quote for Atlassian Cloud products October 18, 2022 will have the lower pricing model, along with the Loyalty Discount that Atlassian started three years ago.  This means Atlassian is offering on-premise (Server) instances a discount of 20% to move to Atlassian cloud for purchases of 1001+ users.

The prices for Marketplace applications are not affected by this price change. For more information on SPK’s Atlassian Cloud services including how you can obtain other discounts on your Atlassian Cloud licensing, click here.
